Brad Pitt arrives on Hydra for ‘The Riders’

Athens, Feb 20 (EFE).- Brad Pitt is spending this week on the Greek island of Hydra, just south of Athens, for the filming of his upcoming movie “The Riders,” private broadcaster Skai reported Friday.

The 62-year-old American actor and producer arrived on the island aboard a commercial catamaran, accompanied by his girlfriend, Inés de Ramón, and members of his security team.

Television footage showed Pitt walking through Hydra’s picturesque port toward his accommodation.

The island, located in the Aegean Sea, is known for its unique ban on motor vehicles, residents and visitors move around on foot, by donkey, or by boat.

Filming is scheduled to begin Saturday and continue for several days, according to local media. Production crews have already set up sets in the port area.

The production team has rented two waterfront premises, transforming one into a traditional café and the other into a high-speed ferry ticket office for the film.

A large inflatable water tank connected to pipes and an electric generator has also been installed to create artificial rain for certain scenes.

“The Riders” is directed by Edward Berger and is produced by Pitt.

The film is based on the 1994 novel of the same name by Tim Winton, which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize in 1995.

Pitt plays Fred Scully, a man who purchases and renovates a countryside home in Ireland while his wife, Jennifer, portrayed by Julianne Nicholson, and daughter Billie (played by Coco Greenstone) remain in Australia.

The cast also includes Michael Smiley, Danny Huston, Camille Cottin, and Ulrich Thomsen. EFE dsp-sk
