Blackpink’s ‘Ddu-du Ddu-du’ becomes most-viewed K-pop video on YouTube

Seoul, Jul 31 (EFE).- The music video for K-pop band Blackpink’s song “Ddu-du Ddu-du” has exceeded 2.1 billion views on YouTube, becoming the first song of the genre to achieve the feat.

“Ddu-du Ddu-du,” which was on the 2018 EP “Square Up”, reached the milestone at 5pm on Sunday in South Korea (08:00 GMT), some five years and one month after its launch, the band’s agency YG Entertainment said on Monday.

The song has also been streamed more than 600 million times on Spotify, the world’s largest music platform.

Formed by Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa, Blackpink is also the band with the most followers on YouTube, with close to 90.3 million subscribers.

The South Korean group released their second studio album “Born Pink” in September last year, and began a world tour in October, in addition to headlining Coachella music festival in April. EFE
