Kyiv, May 16 (EFE).- Russia launched a new aerial attack with “an exceptional” density on the Ukrainian capital on Tuesday, leaving at least three people injured, said the Kyiv military head.
It was the eighth air strike on Kyiv so far this month, said Serhiy Popko, the head of the Ukrainian capital’s military administration.
“It was exceptional in its density — the maximum number of attack missiles in the shortest period of time,” Popko said in a message he posted on the Telegram messaging app.
He said the Russian army fired from different points simultaneously, using UAVs, cruise, and probably ballistic missiles.
“According to preliminary information, the vast majority of enemy targets in the airspace of Kyiv were detected and destroyed,” the military officer said.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko said debris fell in central districts, causing severe damage to a non-residential building and several cars in the Solomyansky district, which houses the international airport.
The city zoo in the Shevchenkivskyi district was also hit by missile debris.
The new air strikes came after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy returned from the European trip that took him to Italy, the Vatican, Germany, and the United Kingdom to galvanize political and military support in the Ukrainian war against the Russian invasion. EFE
