Beijing, July 6 (EFE).- The national observatory of China on Thursday renewed its orange alert over high temperatures and forecast that the heat wave that has affected different regions of the country for over a week will continue for several days.
Temperatures in Beijing and in the central and northern regions of Tianjin, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Henan, Inner Mongolia, Xinjiang, Ningxia and Shaanxi is expected to exceed 35 degrees Celsius during the day, according to the China Meteorological Administration.
In certain regions, such as the capital, the mercury could also touch 40 degrees Celsius.
According to the Administration, the heat wave may extend until Jul. 10 in Beijing, Hebei, Tianjin, Shandong and Henan.
China has a three-tier, color-coded weather alert system for high temperatures, in which red represents the most severe warning, followed by orange and yellow.
Besides the high temperatures, some regions face torrential floods that this summer have already left dozens of deaths and more than a million affected in central regions such as Chongqing, Hunan, Sichuan and Jiangxi and northern Inner Mongolia. EFE
