Beijing, Aug 13 (EFE).- At least four people died and 14 are missing after a landslide hit a district of Xi’an city in northwest China’s Shaanxi province, state-run Global Times daily reported Sunday.

The landslide occurred on Friday night in Weiziping village in Chang’an district shortly after heavy rains and floods in the province.
Two houses in Chang’an were washed away and nearby roads, bridges, power supply facilities were damaged.
Four people had been confirmed dead by Sunday morning while another 14 remain missing.
A 100-member police team has been deployed to the disaster-struck area to participate in search and rescue operations.
A total of 81 residents and 11 vehicles have been moved to safety as emergency workers comb a 65 kilometer (40 miles) long area along a nearby river for those missing.
Other cities, including Nanning in the south, and Jilin in the northeast, have also recorded heavy rainfall over the weekend.
In 2021 and 2022, summers in central China were marked by heavy rains not seen in decades, which resulted in more than 300 deaths, even as a persistent drought affected the southern parts of the country. EFE
