Beijing, Sep 12 (EFE).- At least seven people died and three are missing after several landslides hit a city in southern China’s Guangxi province, state-run news agency Xinhua reported late Monday.

The landslides took place on Monday evening in Yulin following severe rainstorms on Sunday and Monday, Xinhua said.
A total of 11 meteorological stations in the city reported that the remnants of typhoon Haikui caused 400 millimeters of rainfall to fall in the area, which triggered the landslides.
According to the Guangxi Hydrological Center, the water levels of the main tributaries of the Nanliu, Beiliu, Baisha rivers have risen by 2 to 6 meters while 17 other rivers had crossed the warning level of 0.01 to 3.18 meters.
The rains also affected the southern Guangdong and Fujian provinces over the weekend, in addition to the semi-autonomous city of Hong Kong, which has so far recorded 600 millimeters of rainfall in several areas, a quarter of the annual rainfall it receives.
In 2021 and 2022, summers in central China were marked by heavy rains not seen in decades, which resulted in more than 300 deaths, even as a persistent drought affected the southern parts of the country. EFE
