Moscow, Oct 24 (EFE).- The Kremlin on Tuesday rejected reports suggesting that President Vladimir Putin was ill and employing a body double in official meetings.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said during his daily press conference in Moscow that the rumors suggesting that Putin had experienced heart problems over the weekend were baseless.
“He (Putin) is fine, it’s just another hoax,” Peskov said.
He also rejected allegations that the president had utilized a body double during his meetings, calling them “absurd rumors.”
“There are no doubles. This (claim) does not cause anything but a smile,” he said.
The Kremlin’s reaction comes after an unsourced report from a Russian Telegram channel claimed that Putin had suffered a severe health problem on Sunday evening, but doctors were able to stabilize his condition.
The General SVR channel also alleged that Putin had recently used a body double to represent him in all official events and meetings.
The spokesperson said that on Tuesday, the Russian president would be working at the Kremlin, participating in several meetings, and speaking on the telephone with one of his foreign counterparts, without specifying whom. EFE
