Beirut, Aug 6 (EFE).- Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah on Tuesday warned that a “strong” response to Israeli attacks could come from the entire Iran-led alliance, following recent attacks that killed senior Hamas and Hezbollah officials in Iran and Lebanon.
«Our response is coming, God willing, alone or (…) with the entire ‘Axis’,» Nasrallah said, referring to the Iranian-led “Axis of Resistance,” which includes Palestine’s Hamas, Yemen’s Houthi rebels, and militia groups in Syria and Iraq.
He said that the retaliation against Israel will be “strong and effective” and different from the attacks the Lebanese group has launched against Israel so far.
«Hezbollah will respond, Iran will respond, Yemen will respond. And the enemy is waiting, watching, and calculating,» Nasrallah said in a televised speech.
He claimed that Israel was afraid of a response from the “Axis of Resistance” and was seeking support from the West, particularly the United States.
The Hezbollah leader said that the uncertainty around the timing of the retaliation was “part of the punishment” for Israel.
Nasrallah’s remarks came nearly a week after an Israeli strike killed a top Hezbollah military commander, Fuad Shukr, and six others in Beirut on Jul. 30.
Middle East tensions escalated further after Hamas’s top political leader, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in a precision strike the following day in Tehran. Iran and Hamas blamed Israel for the attack and threatened retaliation.
Israel has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility for the attack on Haniyeh.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has also threatened retaliation against Israel for Haniyeh’s assassination.
Hezbollah and the Houthi rebel group have launched a significant number of attacks against Israel since the conflict in Gaza began on Oct. 7. EFE
