Beirut, Oct 27 (EFE).- Israel bombed the southern Lebanese city of Sidon on Sunday, killing eight people and wounding 25 others, Lebanese health officials said.
The area on the Mediterranean coast had largely avoided the violence that has affected much of eastern and southern Lebanon since the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah escalated in the past month.
The state-run Lebanese National News Agency (ANN) said a minor was among the dead in the attack in Haret Sidon, on the outskirts of the city.

Lebanese media said that a shell hit a three-storey building.
The Israeli army ordered on Sunday the evacuation of a number of towns in southern Lebanon, including Tafhata, Ghasaniya, Babliyeh, Zrarieh, Qasiba, Habush, Kfar Rman, Arnun, Yahmar, Khiyam, Khirbet, Arab al Lawziyeh, Marwaniya and Deir Siryan.
Israel ordered residents of these areas to move north of the Awali River, located more than 50 kilometers from the border.
Since Israel began its invasion of southern Lebanon almost a month ago, Israel has ordered the forced evacuation of around 100 localities in the area, while continuing to intensively bombard different parts of the country, mainly in the south and east.
More than 2,600 people have been killed and more than 12,000 wounded in Lebanon since the start of fighting between Israel and the Shiite group Hezbollah on October 8, 2023, one day after the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip.
However, the vast majority of these deaths have occurred since the start a month ago of Israel’s massive bombing campaign against Lebanon, which in turn has forced the displacement of more than 1.2 million people. EFE
