Russian forces launch mass missile strikes across Ukraine

Lviv, Ukraine, Dec 16 (EFE).- Russian forces launched at least 60 missile attacks on several Ukrainian cities targeting key infrastructure on Friday, Kyiv authorities reported.


“We expect about 60 pieces. Some of them are already over the territory of Ukraine in the north. I also think that our air defense units will down 50+ at least,” Vitaliy Kim, the head of the Mykolaiv regional military administration said on Telegram.


Explosions rocked the northern region of Kherson 30 times, killing four people, three missile attacks were reported in the city of Kharkiv and three districts in Kyiv were targeted by Russian airstrikes, according to the Ukrainian news outlet Ukrinform.

Power was down in the cities of Kharkiv and Poltava after Russian missiles struck key infrastructure.


Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said on Telegram that the capital had been attacked at various points on the left bank of the Dnieper River, which divides the Ukrainian capital in two.


The mayor confirmed that explosions had rocked the Dniprovskiy and Holosiivskyi districts, including civilian buildings and that emergency services had been deployed.


Reports of a missile strike in the city of Bucha, near the Ukrainian capital, were also confirmed by Ukraine authorities.


According to local media, 12 shells were dropped over the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, an area under partial Russian control that is also home to Ukraine’s largest nuclear power plant.EFE
