At least 10 dead as plane crashes on highway near Malaysian capital

Bangkok, Aug 17 (EFE) – At least 10 people died Thursday after a small plane with eight people on board crashed on a highway, where it collided with a car and a motorcycle near the Malaysian capital.

Among the dead were the eight occupants of the plane, as well as two people traveling on the highway in the state of Selangor, adjacent to Kuala Lumpur, according to police sources cited by the state-owned Bernama news agency.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia said in a statement that the aircraft, a Beechcraft Model 390, crashed near the locality of Elmina while traveling from the island of Langkawi to Subang, near Kuala Lumpur.

Photos of the crash site showed a blackened area of asphalt and debris from the plane.

The police are investigating the causes of the crash and trying to ascertain the identities of the victims. EFE
