Kyiv, Aug 24 (EFE).- At least seven civilians suffered wounds in a Russian missile strike on the southeastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Thursday, the regional military administration said.
Regional military head Serhiy Lysak said the Russian missile hit a critical “transport infrastructure facility” in Dnipro, 500 km southeast of the Ukrainian capital.
Lysak said the air defense system in the east shot down one of the Russian missiles.
“But there were also hits. A transport infrastructure facility was destroyed. Seven people were injured,” he said.
The wounded, aged between 32 and 55 years, included four women.
He said that most of those injured suffered lacerations and shrapnel wounds.
Six of the wounded were hospitalized in moderate condition.
He said the Russian missiles damaged a bank, a gas station, a hotel, an agricultural company, a furniture factory, and an administrative building.
Dnipro is one of the Ukrainian industrial cities and a critical logistics hub for the country’s armed forces.
Meanwhile, the Russians continue with their assault on other fronts of the war that completed its 18 months on Thursday.
The authorities in Kherson said the Russian forces fired hundreds of shells using mortars, artillery, tanks, Grad MLRS, drones, and aircraft to target the southern region and its capital by the same name.
In particular, 32 shells hit the provincail capital of Kherson.
The Russian military targeted residential areas in the southern region, damaging a kindergarten, a factory, and an administrative building. EFE
