Russia reports another Ukrainian attack on Black Sea Fleet, Crimea

Moscow, Sep 14 (EFE).- Russia on Thursday denounced another attack by Ukraine against its Black Sea Fleet and the annexed Crimean peninsula, a day after a Ukrainian missile attack against a shipyard in Crimea damaged two military ships.

“On September 14, at about 05.00, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted to attack the Black Sea Fleet patrol ship ‘Sergey Kotov’ in the Black Sea with five unmanned naval boats,”  the Russian defense ministry said in a statement.

“While repelling the attack, five unmanned enemy boats were destroyed by fire from the ship’s standard weapons,” it added.

In another statement issued half an hour later, the ministry said that the Russian military had thwarted “an attempt by the Kyiv regime to carry out a terrorist attack by an aircraft-type UAV” against the Crimean territory.

It added that Russian sir defense systems had destroyed eleven unmanned aerial vehicles over the annexed Crimean territory.

On Thursday, explosions were heard in Yevpatoria city, in western Crimea, where several military units are deployed and adjoining which the Saka military airfield is located, Ukraine’s state agency Ukrinform reported.

A day earlier, Russia announced that a Ukrainian missile attack against a shipyard in Crimea’s Sevastopol had damaged two ships of the Black Sea Fleet that were under repair.

The Ukrainian Security and Cooperation Center said that the vessels damaged in the attack included a landing ship and a submarine. EFE
