New York, Sep 25 (EFE).- Amazon is to invest up to $4 billion in artificial intelligence (AI) company Anthropic, as part of a “broader collaboration to develop business models, the ÄI firm said in a statement Monday.
Following the investment, Amazon Web Services (AWS) is expected to become Anthropic’s leading cloud storage provider, with both companies combining their expertise and collaborating on the development of Trainium and Inferentia technology.
In the long term, Anthropic is committed to providing AWS customers access to future models through Bedrock, with unique customization and tuning capabilities.
With its investment, Amazon will become a minority partner in Anthropic, the statement said.
Amazon chief executive Andy Jassy said in a separate statement that the agreement will help “improve many customer experiences, short and long-term” and also “help customers get even more value.”
Anthropic, an Amazon client since 2021, has become one of the world’s leading providers of core models and an advocate for responsible implementation of generative AI, the statement noted. EFE
