Tehran, 13 Apr (EFE).- The Spanish embassy in Tehran reopened on Monday to join «the efforts in favor of peace from all possible fronts.»
“We return to Tehran,”the embassy posted on X. “The embassy of Spain in Iran reopens following the ceasefire. Ambassador Antonio Sánchez-Benedito Gaspar together with the diplomatic team and local staff resumes his work with the commitment to support peace.”
Ambassador Sánchez-Benedito also shared the news on X.
«Together with my committed team, I have reopened today the Spanish Embassy in Tehran in order to join in efforts for peace from every possible quarter, following (Spanish Foreign) Minister Jose Manuel Albares’ instructions.»

The ambassador posted two photographs at the embassy door with some of the staff of the diplomatic legation.
The Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs gave instructions last week for Sánchez-Benedito to return to the Iranian capital and reopen the embassy, one day after the United States and Iran agreed to a two-week ceasefire.
The Spanish Embassy in Iran was evacuated on Mar. 7 due to the bombings and after facilitating the departure of all Spanish residents in that country who wished to do so.
At the moment, there are about 130 Spaniards who decided to stay in the country.
Iran and the United States held direct talks in Pakistan on Saturday, in negotiations led by the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohamad Baqer Qalibaf, and the US Vice President, J.D. Vance.
After 21 hours of negotiations, they did not reach an agreement, which led US President Donald Trump to announce that his country will block the Strait of Hormuz, a measure that will take effect on Monday at 14.00 GMT. EFE
