Russian strike kills 4 in Ukraine’s Dnipro

Kyiv, Apr 14 (EFE).- At least four people were killed in a Russian missile strike on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Tuesday, according to regional authorities.

The attack also left 25 people injured, including 21 who were hospitalized, with 10 reported to be in serious condition, regional governor Oleksandr Ganzha said on Telegram.

The missile strike occurred in broad daylight, with the initial assessment released at around 2:00 p.m. local time (1100 GMT).

Dnipro, an industrial hub located along the river of the same name, is one of Ukraine’s most populous and economically significant cities.

Situated relatively close to the front line, the city has frequently been targeted by Russian forces since the start of the war.

Ukraine’s robotic battlefield assault

Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces have seized a Russian position on the front line using a fully robotic operation with no soldiers physically involved, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

«These are our robotic land systems. For the first time in the history of this war, an enemy position was taken exclusively with unmanned platforms: ground systems and drones,» Zelenskyy said in a video, filmed in front of various types of military technology.

The Ukrainian president added that Russian troops surrendered during the operation, which was completed without infantry personnel and without any Ukrainian casualties.

«Ratel, TerMIT, Ardal, Rys, Zmiy, Protector, Volia and other robotic ground systems have already carried out more than 22,000 missions on the front in just three months,» Zelenskyy said, highlighting the importance of these technologies in reducing risks to soldiers.

According to the Ukrainian presidential office, the unmanned ground systems mentioned by Zelenskyy are used to transport ammunition, evacuate wounded soldiers, lay explosive mines, gather intelligence and open fire on enemy positions.

Russia advances in Sumy border region

Meanwhile, Russian forces have advanced in parts of the northeastern Sumy region, where Russia is seeking to establish a buffer zone along the border, a senior military official said Tuesday.

Viktor Tregubov, head of the Joint Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, acknowledged that Russian troops had made progress near the town of Myropilske, which borders Russia.

«As far as Myropilske is concerned, yes, there have been advances,» Tregubov told Ukraine’s public news agency Ukrinform.

He added that fighting is also ongoing in the town of Mar’ine, another settlement on the Ukrainian side of the border that Russian forces are attempting to capture in the Sumy region.

The Ukrainian military monitoring channel DeepState reported that Russian forces had advanced near Myropilske, Mar’ine, and Novodmytrivka, three towns located in the border area.

The 14th Corps of the Ukrainian Army had also reported a Ukrainian withdrawal near Myropilske a day earlier. EFE
