Nabatieh, Lebanon (EFE).- Israel launched on Tuesday several attacks against the Lebanese city of Nabatieh and nearby towns as Israeli troops advance across the Litani River.
The artillery fire and bombings in nearby areas can clearly be heard from Nabatieh, one of the most important cities in southern Lebanon.
EFE was able to confirm that have escalated significantly since last week.
Israeli troops have already reached the village of Zawtar al-Sharqiya, about eight kilometers (four miles) south of Nabatieh.

On Sunday, they reached Beaufort Castle, also located on the Litani River, the natural border where the announced «buffer zone» ended.
Hezbollah is resisting the advance, sparking fears that Israel is attempting to take Nabatieh as only a few families, medical and rescue teams remain.
«If they reach Nabatieh al-Fawqa, the immediate outskirts of the city, we will leave. They are currently about 10 kilometers (six miles) away,» said Mahdi Salloum, team leader of Nabatieh Ambulances, one of the organizations still present in the area to carry out emergency response tasks.
The official expressed optimism that the escalation would end soon, before Israel could reach the city. However, he acknowledged that if that did not happen, his team would have to move to a location further north, outside of the most conflict-ridden area.
«If they reach here, we will go to Sidon. However, our work as rescuers will end, and we will focus on distributing food and helping people,» he explained.
As of Tuesday, the National News Agency (NNA) reported attacks in the towns of Shoukin, Haboush, Kfar Sir, Qasiba, Kfar Tebnit, and Doueir. Four people were killed in Doueir, including a married couple and their daughter.
On Monday night, United States President Donald Trump stated on Truth Social that Hezbollah had committed to halting its attacks on Israeli territory, and in exchange, Israel would halt its military offensive in Lebanon.
However, the violence continues unabated, as was also the case during the ceasefire agreed upon in mid-April, a measure that served as cover for the advance of Israeli troops in southern Lebanon.
Meanwhile, representatives from both countries began a new round of talks in Washington on Tuesday to seek a negotiated solution to the conflict. EFE
