Copenhagen (EFE).- One person has died and three others were injured, two of them seriously, in a sword attack on Friday at Brinell secondary school in Fagersta, central Sweden, police reported.
The suspect, an 18-year-old former student according to Swedish media, has been detained and sustained a gunshot wound during his arrest.
«The total number of injured includes two in serious condition, according to health services, and one additional person injured,» local police chief Tommy Alriksson told a press conference.
Police discovered the deceased while clearing the building and have since searched two residences in Fagersta linked to the attacker.

«For the time being, we have no reason to believe anyone else was involved,» Alriksson said.
The two seriously injured victims, aged between 12 and 17, are hospitalized; one is in serious but stable condition, while the other underwent emergency surgery, regional health director Jonas Cederberg told public broadcaster SVT.
Authorities received a report of «suspected deadly violence» at 2:06 p.m. local time and deployed all available resources to the scene.
The 18-year-old suspect is a resident of Fagersta, a municipality of just over 13,000 people.
Students at Brinell and nearby schools remained on lockdown for several hours while police secured the area.
«We do not yet know what lies behind the act, but we know that the police are working very intensively. I want to ask everyone to let the police and emergency services work undisturbed. Our thoughts are with all those affected,» Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said in a statement.
Brinell school has approximately 500 students, according to SVT. EFE
