Kyiv, Aug 28 (EFE).- The Ukrainian military has shot down a Russian Su-25 fighter jet preparing to attack its positions on the Kramatorsk front in the eastern region of Donetsk, it said on Wednesday.
“In the direction of Kramatorsk, our military shot down a Russian Su-25 aircraft that was trying to fire at the positions of units of the Defense Forces,” a statement by the Khortytsia Strategic-Operational Group of the Armed Forces said.
It added that the Russian aircraft was shot down by the 28th Separate Mechanized Brigade with a portable anti-aircraft defense system (MANPADS).
“From today, there is one less aircraft in the Russian attack aircraft. Its ruins decorate the Donetsk landscape,” the group added.
Russia uses its air force on the eastern front to launch dozens of guided aerial bombs every day that destroy Ukrainian defensive positions, thus facilitating the ground advance of its infantry. EFE
