3 Georgia minors charged for school shooting threats after deadly attack

New York, Sep 6 (EFE).- Georgia authorities have charged three minors, aged 11, 13, and 17, in separate parts of the American state for making threats of school shootings.

The charges come in the wake of Wednesday’s deadly shooting at Apalachee High School in Winder, where another minor killed four people.

The teens were arrested in Brooks, Crisp, and Valdosta counties, each facing charges of «terroristic threats.» At least two claimed their messages were intended as jokes during questioning.

In Brooks County, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation identified a 13-year-old boy as the source of a school shooting threat posted on a messaging platform used by students and teachers.

The boy, who attended classes virtually, was also charged with «computer intrusion» and told authorities the message was a joke.

Despite this, he was arrested and placed in a juvenile center following consultation with the Department of Juvenile Justice.

The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 17-year-old student who posted shooting threats on the messaging app TextNow. Authorities searched his belongings and vehicle but found no weapons.

In Valdosta, an 11-year-old girl was arrested after making a shooting threat on social media.

She later claimed the comment was a joke. The Department of Juvenile Justice decided not to detain her, and she was released into her mother’s custody.

These incidents occurred after 14-year-old Colt Gray shot and killed four people and wounded nine others with a semi-automatic rifle at Apalachee High School in Barrow County on Wednesday.

Colt Gray has been charged with four counts of murder, while his father, Colin Gray, 54, faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, second-degree murder, and child cruelty for allegedly giving his son access to the weapon. Both face life in prison. EFE
