Moscow, Oct 11 (EFE).- Russia’s President Vladimir Putin said Friday that international relations had entered a period of fundamental changes and the formation of a new world order reflecting the diversity of the planet was an «irreversible» process.
«Russia advocates the broadest possible international discussion on the parameters of interaction in the emerging multi-polar world, and is open to discussing issues of building a new world order with all our friends, partners and like-minded people, including within the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), the EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS,» Putin said at an international forum in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.
In his speech, broadcast live on Russian state television, Putin stressed that the world was «facing unprecedented threats generated by civilizational rifts, inter-ethnic and interfaith conflicts.»
«International relations have entered an era of global, fundamental changes, when a new world order is being formed that reflects the diversity of the entire planet, and this natural process is irreversible,» he added.
The Russian leader pointed out that new centers of economic growth, financial and political influence were emerging, primarily in the global East and South, state-owned news agency TASS reported.
He added that these new centers were striving to preserve and strengthen sovereignty and socio-cultural identity, and looking for ways to develop harmoniously following their traditions and based on national interest.
The international forum, «Interconnection of Times and Civilizations – the Basis of Peace and Development,» which is being held in Ashgabat, marks the 300th anniversary of the birth of the Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Pyragy.
Putin will meet with his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, on the sidelines of the forum on Friday and discuss the state of bilateral relations and the serious situation in the Middle East, the Russian presidency said.
Both Moscow and Tehran have condemned the Israeli attacks against the Gaza Strip and the strikes on Lebanese and Syrian territory, while the Kremlin has refrained from criticizing the launching of Iranian missiles against Israel. EFE
