“We would certainly respond to the Israeli aggression in a proper time and in a proper manner, in a very measured and calculated manner,” the Iranian top diplomat said at a joint press conference with his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar.

Araghchi arrived in Islamabad on Monday on a two-day official visit to consult with Pakistan’s leaders amid a further escalation of hostilities in the Middle East following Israel’s latest attacks on Iranian soil.

The Israeli attacks, in which four Iranian military personnel were killed, were claimed to be in response to Tehran’s missile attacks on Israeli soil in early October.

During the visit, the two ministers discussed bilateral ties between Pakistan and Iran, which share a land border of more than 900 kilometers.

“It is a great pleasure to visit the brotherly country of Pakistan as part of my ongoing consultations with neighboring and regional countries at this critical juncture,” said Araghchi.

The minister claimed that Israel committed «flagrant crimes and acts of genocide» in Gaza and continues its widespread aggression in Lebanon and elsewhere in the Middle East.

He claimed that Israeli regime has committed “blatant crimes and acts of genocide” in Gaza and continues its widespread aggression in Lebanon and other places in the Middle East.

“The Zionist regime further displayed its belligerent and aggressive nature by attacking Iran on Oct. 26. Unlike the Israeli regime, the Islamic Republic of Iran does not seek escalation,» he added.

Araghchi further said his country deeply appreciates the “strong and commendable” stance of the government and people of Pakistan in condemning Israel’s “aggression” against Iran.

Dar, on his part, said that both exchanged views on the current situation in the Middle East and the world.

“We had a very good round of discussions focusing on the Middle East crisis, its spillover, the denial of the right of self-determination (to the Palestinians) and the need for upholding international law and advancing accountability,” he said.

Earlier, the Iranian minister met with Pakistan Army chief Syed Asim Munir and senior army officials in Rawalpindi, and discussed bilateral cooperation, especially military-defensive cooperation on common borders, and the situation in the Middle East. EFE
