Jerusalem/Gaza, Dec 12 (EFE).- At least 27 people were killed and 50 others wounded in an Israeli attack on the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, local hospital sources confirmed to EFE.
A post office and several houses were hit in the attack, most of the victims were women and children.
The Israel Defense Forces has not yet commented.
Gaza Civil Defense spokesman Mahmud Basal said on his Telegram channel that rescue teams had managed to recover the bodies of 15 dead and eight wounded in a house near the post office in Nuseirat.
The shelling brings to 70 the number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on the battered enclave in the past 24 hours, according to medical sources.
At least 13 policemen in Gaza were killed in an Israeli attack on Thursday as they tried to secure the distribution of humanitarian aid, authorities in the territory ruled by the armed Hamas group said.
The IDF said it had targeted Hamas «terrorists» operating in the southern humanitarian corridor who, according to their intelligence sources, were «planning to violently hijack the trucks and prevent them from reaching civilians in Gaza.»
At least 44,835 people have been killed and 106,356 injured in Gaza since the war began in 2023, according to the latest figures from the Gaza Health Ministry. EFE
