32 dead, nearly 200 injured in latest Israeli strikes on Gaza

Jerusalem, Jan 11 (EFE).- At least 32 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 200 injured in ongoing Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip in the past two days, Gaza’s Health Ministry reported on Saturday, as the enclave’s casualty figures continue to soar after 15 months of conflict.

The war has left 46,537 confirmed dead and 109,571 injured, according to hospital records in the enclave. However, officials estimate that over 11,200 people remain missing under the rubble, their bodies yet to be recovered.

The Gaza Health Ministry added that this week alone, 500 previously unaccounted-for victims were added to the death toll after the judicial commission verified missing persons reports.

In the past hours, Palestinian sources confirmed attacks in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, including the Mawasi humanitarian area, as well as in central refugee camps in Bureij and Nuseirat, and the northern cities of Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Beit Hanun.

Jabalia, the largest city in northern Gaza, has become a ghost town, devastated by a three-month Israeli «scorched earth» offensive that Palestinian sources estimate has killed over 4,800 people, with many more reported missing.

The Israeli army reported that its Givati Brigade soldiers targeted a group of “terrorists” in Jabalia, detecting them through drone reconnaissance. EFE
