Yamal, Williams star as Spain hammer Georgia 4-1

Frankfurt, Germany, June 30 (EFE).- Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams were the stars as Spain survived an early scare to run out comfortable 4-1 winners against Georgia to qualify for the Euro 2024 quarterfinals.

After Spain utterly dominated the first 15 minutes in Cologne, Georgia took a shock lead when Robin Le Normand scored a clumsy own goal at the end of a rapid counter attack.

The Iberians deservedly took the lead after 50 minutes when youngster Yamal curled a perfect cross to the back post, where Fabian Ruiz nodded in.

Georgia were struggling to hold on as Spain were rampant; they had several chances to add a third goal before Williams did just that when he ghosted past his man to fire into the roof of the net with 15 minutes left.
