6 elephants dead after train run over in Sri Lanka

Colombo, Feb 20 (EFE).- Six elephants died, including three calves, and another two were injured after being run over by a train in a rural part of Sri Lanka early Thursday, according to the police.

The crash took place at the Gal Oya station in Habarana, about 180 kilometers from Colombo, while the train was going from Batticaloa to Colombo, the police statement said.

The passengers in the train were unharmed following the collision.
