Portugal, Turkey, Georgia, last qualifiers for round of 16 in Euro 2024

Sports Desk, Jun 26 (EFE).- Turkey and Georgia qualified for the round of 16 of the European Championship after winning on Wednesday against the Czech Republic and Portugal, respectively.

With one man down due to Antonín Barák’s expulsion at 20 minutes, the Czech Republic was eliminated from the competition with a 1-2 score against Turkey, finishing in fourth place in Group F.

Turkey took the lead through Hakan Çalhanoglu at the start of the second half, and Tomáš Souček equalized with half an hour remaining. However, Turkey sealed the score in added time thanks to Cenk Tosun, who set up his team to face Austria in the next phase.

Meanwhile, Georgia achieved a historic qualification to the round of 16 (2-0) thanks to goals from Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze, who confirmed their passage to the round of 16 of Euro 2024, where they will face Spain. EFE
