Moscow, May 26 (EFE).- The Russian regions of Rostov and Krasnodar registered explosions Thursday night due to an alleged Ukrainian drone and missile attack, one of which was shot down near a military airfield, authorities and local media reported.
“The air defense system was activated in the Morozovsk area and shot down a Ukrainian missile. The military is doing its job. Keep calm,” Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to Russian media channel Baza, an unidentified object was shot down near the Morozovsk military airfield in Rostov, which borders the Donetsk and Luhansk regions of Ukraine.
In neighboring Krasnodar, near the Kerch Strait in the annexed Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, another explosion occurred in the eponymous city center, the territory’s operational headquarters said.
In Baza and other Russian media such as the Mash channel, related to the Kremlin, a drone can be seen in videos published Friday supposedly flying over the city.
The explosion was heard in the Morskaya Street area, where two buildings, one office and one residential, were damaged, according to the Mayor Yevgeny Naumov.
“The cause of the incident is established. I ask residents to remain calm,” he wrote on his Telegram channel. EFE
