Seoul, May 26 (EFE).- A commercial flight landed at the airport in the South Korean city of Daegu after a passenger apparently opened the emergency door shortly before landing, which caused some travelers to be treated for respiratory problems.
The incident occurred on Asiana Airlines flight OZ8124 that was carrying 194 people from the island of Jeju to Daegu, about 240 kilometers southeast of Seoul.
The flight took off at 11.49 local time and the door opened suddenly at 12.45 around five minutes before the scheduled time of landing, according to Yonhap agency.
The person who allegedly opened the door was a male passenger in his thirties who has been detained and is being questioned.
The plane managed to land with the door open and no one was injured or fell from the aircraft during the landing.
However, nine passengers were hospitalized due to respiratory problems such as hyperventilation, although none was in a serious condition.
Around fifty primary and secondary school students were traveling on the plane to take part in a sports competition in Ulsan, 60 kilometers east of Daegu.
The South Korean media has published a 10-second video from that recorded by a passenger, displaying the scene inside the plane while it approaches the ground with commotion inside the cabin. EFE
