Washington, Aug 29 (EFE).- Prosecutor Fani Willis, leading the case in Georgia against former United States President Donald Trump and 19 others for trying to reverse the results of the elections in that state, asked Wednesday that they all be judged at the same time.
In a document filed with the Fulton County Superior Court, Willis said that, from her perspective, it is inappropriate to try the cases separately.
Willis’ request comes after the court’s judge Scott McAfee settled on a start date for the trial for defendant Kenneth Chesboro.
The court has not yet decided whether to approve Willis’s proposal that the trial begin on Oct. 23, so the prosecutor asked in the document filed Tuesday to clarify whether the decision in the Chesboro case implies it will separate this defendant from the others.
The reading of the charges in Georgia, in which defendants can plead guilty or not guilty, will take place on Sept. 6.
The Georgia case is one of several judicial processes the former president faces in different courts around the country.
The election tampering trial was set Monday for Mar. 4, 2024, while the case for the 2016 irregular payments to silence porn actress Stormy Daniels during the 2016 campaign over an alleged affair in the past, it is scheduled for Mar. 25 in New York that same month.
On the other hand, the trial in Florida for the classified papers Trump took from the White House when he left power is scheduled for May 20, 2024, when the presidential elections will be just over 6 months away. EFE
