Seoul, Sep 9 (EFE).- North Korea held a paramilitary parade to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the country, which is commemorated Saturday, attended by leader Kim Jong-un and Chinese government representatives.
“A military parade took place in splendor in Kim Il-sung Square in the capital Pyongyang on Sep. 8 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of (North Korea),” the North Korean state news agency KCNA reported Saturday about the Friday parade.
For the occasion, a diplomatic delegation from China traveled to the peninsular territory, which Beijing announced during the week to be headed by Vice Premier Liu Guozhong, and to which Kim gave a friendly welcome.
Kim and the Chinese representatives agreed on their desire to “develop friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries and further intensify multifaceted coordination and cooperation” between both nations, the aforementioned media reported.
A group from the Russian Army’s Cando and Dance Academy also traveled to North Korea for the celebration, according to KCNA.
In this way, Pyongyang once again staged the recent signs of rapprochement with its main allies, Beijing and Moscow, which already sent senior defense officials to participate in the military parade held in July for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean army.
According to North Korean public radio, the leaders of Russia and China, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, sent congratulatory messages to Kim on the occasion of North Korea’s founding anniversary.
Putin conveyed to Kim his conviction that his countries will from now on expand their cooperation in security and other areas, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported.
Xi, for his part, would have reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the development of historically friendly relations between both states, according to official North Korean media.
This last parade had generated expectations despite its smaller scale because it was the third linked to the militia so far this year and amid questions about whether Kim would attend, something that was finally confirmed by KCNA.
The North Korean leader could soon travel to the Russian city of Vladivostok, according to several media reports, to meet with the Russian president with the aim of negotiating a possible arms supply agreement, among other tasks. EFE
