Abdurrahman Suleiman Abu Daghash, 32, and Asaad Jab’awi, 21, were shot dead early Sunday, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported.

The Israeli security forces carried out an operation on Sunday morning to dismantle a command center of Palestinian armed groups in the Nur Shams camp, where they found dozens of ready-to-use explosives, the Israel Defense Forces reported.

During the joint operation conducted by the army, the border police and the internal security agency, Shin Bet, the forces located a building and dismantled a command center inside that contained observation devices, computers and technological devices.

Troops used engineering tools to locate explosives planted under the camp’s roads, many of which exploded.

During the operation, Palestinian gunmen opened fire and threw explosives at the Israeli forces, who responded with live fire, the army said.

An Israeli soldier was moderately injured by shrapnel and taken to a hospital for treatment.

The occupied West Bank and Israel are seeing the biggest spiral of violence since the Second Intifada (2000-05).

A total of 199 Palestinians have already died in the conflict in the West Bank or on Israeli territory so far this year.

Most of the dead were attackers or militants who died in gun battles with Israeli troops. But the deceased also included civilians, 36 of them children.

The region has seen the proliferation of new Palestinian armed groups.

Attacks by Palestinians have left 32 people dead on the Israeli side, most of them settlers. EFE
