The incident happened in a parking lot near Kansas City’s Union Station, the local police department said on social media.

Police reported the arrest of “two armed individuals,” although they have not yet detailed whether they are the perpetrators of the shooting.

Local media, citing the Kansas City Fire Department, reported that one person had died and that there were between 10 and 15 injured, some with gunshot wounds and others with injuries sustained during the stampede caused by the shooting.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes posted a message on social networking site X saying, “Praying for Kansas City.”

It is legal to carry guns on the streets in the state of Missouri.

Thousands of people took to the streets of Kansas City to celebrate Super Bowl LVIII, which the Chiefs won 25-22 over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday.

Minutes before the game, a bus carrying the players – including singer Taylor Swift’s boyfriend, tight end Travis Kelce – made its way through the streets of the city to celebrate with the fans.

The singer, who attended Sunday’s game in Las Vegas, did not attend Wednesday’s festivities. EFE
