Gaza death toll nears 40,800 after nearly 11 months of war

Jerusalem, Sep 2 (EFE).- The number of people killed in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli military operations stood at 40,786 on Monday and the wounded at 94,224, after almost 11 months of war.

The Israeli occupation committed three “massacres” against families in the Gaza Strip, leaving 48 dead and 70 wounded during the last 24 hours, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry of the Hamas government on Monday.

At least three Palestinians were killed early in the morning and an unknown number were injured when Israeli forces shelled a vehicle in front of a clinic in the neighborhood of Remal, north of Gaza City.

Local sources reported that four other citizens were killed in a bombing of fighter planes against a house in the Bureij camp in the center of the Strip, an area that has been badly hit in recent days.

In addition, according to the Palestinian agency Wafa, shelling of residential buildings in the neighborhood of Sabra, also in Gaza City, was constant, while others collapsed from explosives near the university in the neighborhood of Tal al Hawa, southwest of Gaza City.

These attacks come as a polio vaccination campaign continues in Gaza for the second day, which will last until next week, accompanied by humanitarian pauses in fighting in areas where doses are being administered. EFE
