Beirut, Oct 22 (EFE).- Hezbollah on Tuesday announced three attacks with “qualitative missiles” against northern and central Israel, including the outskirts of Tel Aviv.
The Lebanese group said in separate statements on Telegram that its “qualitative missile salvos” targeted the Glilot base of military intelligence unit 8200 and the ‘Nirit Dome’ on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, as well as Stella Maris naval base northwest of Haifa.
The Shiite group reiterated that its attacks are “in support of the steadfast Palestinian people and in support of their valiant and honorable resistance,” “in defense of Lebanon” and in response to “attacks and massacres” committed by Israel.
The Israeli Defense Force said Tuesday that air raid sirens sounded in several areas of central and northern Israel, including Tel Aviv, due to the launching of Hezbollah projectiles, most of which were intercepted by anti-aircraft defenses.
Following these attacks, a state of emergency was declared in Tel Aviv and all air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport was halted, according to several Israeli media outlets.
Meanwhile, the Israeli air force is continuing its bombings in southern Lebanon after attacking several points in the southern suburbs of Beirut overnight, killing four people, including a child, near the Rafic Hariri government hospital, the Ministry of Public Health reported.
According to its latest count, at least 2,483 people have been killed and more than 11,600 injured in Israeli attacks since Oct. 8, 2023.
Israel on Sep. 23 began a campaign of intense air strikes against southern and eastern Lebanon, as well as southern Beirut, an offensive that has caused the displacement of more than 1.2 million people. EFE
