‘Your collective memory’: 85 years of history captured in images

Madrid, Nov 15 (EFE).- Spain’s international news agency EFE marked its 85th anniversary on Thursday with the inauguration in Madrid of a photographic exhibition of the events and protagonists of recent Spanish and world history.

The exhibition, entitled ‘Your collective memory’, features the news agency’s role in the construction of the country’s collective imagery through the thousands of photographs it publishes every day, feeding an archive of over 25 million images.

The collection also pays tribute to the victims of the devastating recent floods that killed more than 220 people in eastern and southern Spain.

The event at EFE’s headquarters in Spain’s capital was attended by the Spanish Minister for Youth and Children, Sira Rego, and the Minister for Equality, Ana Redondo, as well as diplomats, companies, universities, associations and cultural figures.

EFE President Miguel Ángel Oliver highlighted the “strategic” role of the Spanish agency, backed by its reputation and commitment to truthful information.EFE
