Crane collapse in Thailand kills at least 3

Bangkok, Nov 29 (EFE).- A crane at a construction site for a new elevated highway west of Bangkok collapsed, killing at least three people, Thai authorities said Friday.

Two people are missing and 10 were injured in the accident, when the crane fell onto a road in Samut Sakhon province on Monday morning, the provincial government said. All of the victims of the accident are construction workers on the road project.

Emergency crews were searching for the two missing people in the rubble and have warned there is little chance of finding them alive.

Authorities have opened an investigation to try to determine the cause of the accident.

Accidents on construction projects are common in Thailand due to lax enforcement of safety standards and the use of poorly qualified personnel.

In June 2023, two people were killed and several injured in Bangkok when a bridge under construction collapsed on several cars passing near the infrastructure. EFE
