Damascus, Dec 10 (EFE).- The leader of the rebel coalition that overthrew Syrian president Bashar al-Assad said on Tuesday that they will soon release a list of names of senior government officials involved in war crimes against civilians.
“We will not hesitate to hold accountable the criminals, murderers, security, and army officers involved in torturing the Syrian people. We will pursue war criminals and demand them from the countries to which they fled so that they may receive their just punishment,” Ahmed al-Sharaa, better known in the past under his nom de guerre Abu Mohamed al-Jolani, said in a statement on Telegram.
“We will announce List No. 1 that includes the names of the most senior officials involved in torturing the Syrian people,” said the head of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS, Organization for the Liberation of the Levant), which leads the rebel coalition.

Sharaa, who has entrusted Mohammed al-Bashir, the former head of the Syrian Salvation Government—the HTS political and civil branch—with forming a transitional government, said that they will offer “rewards to anyone who provides information about senior army and security officers involved in war crimes.”
Prime Minister Mohammed al-Jalali told Saudi TV channel al-Arabiya he had agreed to hand over power to the rebel Salvation Government.
The rebel leader added that they “have affirmed our commitment to tolerance for those whose hands are not stained with the blood of the Syrian people, and we have granted amnesty to those who were in compulsory service.
“The blood of innocent martyrs and the rights of detainees are a trust that we will not allow to be wasted or forgotten.”

In 12 days, the rebel offensive ended the more than five decades of Assad’s iron rule in Syria.
He fled Damascus with his family and sought asylum in Moscow. EFE
