Washington, May 1 (EFE).- United States President Donald Trump said Thursday in a speech to students at the University of Alabama that if young people want to go far, they must break the system, citing internet moguls’ renewed deference toward him.
“They all hated me in my first term, and now they’re kissing my ass,” the president said.
Trump spoke of the importance of conservative values in a speech at the University of Alabama, contrasting them with those of Harvard University, which he has attacked for defending diversity of opinion and has seen more than $2 billion in federal funding frozen.
“We believe in liberty and family. In god and country. We celebrate our constitution and revere our bible and salute our flag,” Trump told more than 30,000 graduates of the University of Alabama.
He also said police must be honored and men must not be allowed to compete in women’s competitions, a central policy of his administration aimed at excluding transgender people.
Trump asserted that the future will not be written by the “Harvard Crimson,” but by the “Crimson Tide,” the motto of the University of Alabama, one of the most conservative states with the most racially divided vote in the country.
The president, who recalled his beginnings as a real estate developer in his youth, said that to get far in this world, you have to learn to “break the system.” EFE
