Four pro-Palestinian activists charged over break-in at UK military base

London, Jul 3 (EFE).- Four people have been charged with illegally entering the British Royal Air Force (RAF) Brize Norton base in southern England and vandalizing two military planes, counter-terrorism police announced Thursday.

On June 20, two Voyager aircraft were damaged after being sprayed with red paint at Brize Norton, an act for which the UK-based pro-Palestinian activist group, Palestine Action, claimed responsibility.

The defendants, aged between 22 and 35, are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London on Thursday.

The four are accused of conspiring to commit criminal damage and entering a prohibited place.

The police have identified the four as Amy Gardiner-Gibson, 29; Jony Cink, 24; Daniel Jeronymides-Norie, 35, and Lewie Chiaramello, 22.

A 41-year-old woman, previously arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting a criminal, was released on bail until Sep. 19.

In a statement, police said that the prosecution will argue in court that the alleged crimes had a terrorist connection.

The indictment comes a day after the House of Commons, the lower house, voted to ban Palestine Action under anti-terror legislation, although the measure must be approved by the upper house before it can take effect. EFE
