Liverpool forward Diogo Jota, brother killed in car crash in Spain

Madrid, July 3 (EFE).- Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota, 28, and his brother, 26, died in a car crash in Zamora, northwest Spain, on Thursday morning, emergency services confirmed.

According to sources close to the investigation, the two brothers from Portugal were travelling in a Lamborghini, which came off the road and was engulfed in flames.

The accident took place at kilometre 65 of the A52 highway.

Sources suggest that the car may have suffered a tyre blowout while overtaking, causing it to veer off the road and catch fire.

Firefighters extinguished the fire, which had spread to the surrounding vegetation, and collaborated with emergency health services and the Civil Guard. EFE
