Gaza/Jerusalem (EFE).- At least 20 people were killed on Wednesday in a new wave of Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip, as authorities in the enclave accused Israel of violating the ceasefire 393 times since it took effect on Oct. 10, causing nearly 300 deaths and hundreds of injuries.
Israeli forces carried out multiple attacks across the enclave on Wednesday afternoon after what the army described as militant fire targeting its troops near Khan Younis.
“Today, several terrorists opened fire on a location where Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers were operating in Khan Younis.
In response, the IDF began striking Hamas terror targets across the Gaza Strip,” the army said in a statement, noting that no soldiers were injured.
According to hospital records from Al Ahli, Nasser, and Shifa medical centers, a strike on a UNRWA facility in western Khan Younis killed four people and wounded several others.
Two children were killed in a drone strike on the Al Buraq neighborhood, also in Khan Younis.
Medical sources confirmed three additional deaths in southern Gaza from separate Israeli attacks whose precise locations were not disclosed.
In Gaza City’s Zaitoun district, 10 people, including a child, were killed when Israeli fire hit a building belonging to the Ministry of Endowments.
Another drone strike near the Shujaiya junction on Salah al-Din Street caused one death and dozens of injuries.
Sources added that some attacks took place west of the “yellow line,” an area outside the zone controlled by Israeli forces.
The yellow line marks the internal boundary to which Israeli troops withdrew within Gaza when the ceasefire began.
More than half of the enclave lies between that line and the Israel-Gaza border, an area tightly controlled by the Israeli military, where daily casualties have been reported.
Gaza authorities accuse Israel of hundreds of violations
The Gaza Government Media Office, run by Hamas, said Wednesday that Israel had violated the ceasefire 393 times, resulting in 279 deaths and over 652 injuries since Oct. 10. It also accused Israeli forces of “arbitrarily detaining” 35 Palestinians during incursions and raids.
“These continuous violations have caused the deaths of civilians, including children, women, and the elderly,” the office said in a statement.
The Gaza administration urged United States President Donald Trump and all mediators involved in the conflict, as well as guarantors of the ceasefire agreement and the UN Security Council, to take “serious and effective measures” to stop Israel’s attacks.
It also called on international actors to “restrain the occupation” and ensure Israel complies “strictly” with the armistice terms and humanitarian protocol to protect civilians.
Ground incursions, airstrikes, and demolitions reported
The Gaza Government detailed that between Oct. 10 and Tuesday, Israeli actions included 113 instances of direct fire on civilians, homes, residential areas, and displacement camps, as well as 17 incursions by military vehicles into residential and agricultural areas on the Palestinian side of the yellow line.
It reported 174 air, ground, and artillery attacks, and the demolition of 85 homes and civilian structures, describing the actions as “grave violations” of the Geneva Conventions and a “systematic crime” aimed at expanding destruction and collectively punishing the population.
It condemned what it called Israel’s “dangerous and aggressive behavior.”
“The continued perpetration of these violations threatens prospects for stability and proves that only sustained international pressure can compel the occupation to respect international law and resolutions of international legitimacy,” the statement said. EFE
