Newly released Epstein files include rape allegation against Trump

Washington, DC (EFE). — Newly released files in the Jeffrey Epstein case include an FBI-recorded account alleging that United States President Donald Trump raped a woman in the 1990s, alongside other documents involving senior public figures, though the United States Justice Department warned that some claims are unverified, false, or misleading.

The documents are part of thousands of pages made public this week under a law approved by Congress in November, forcing the declassification of material linked to the late financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died by suicide in a New York jail in 2019.

One FBI statement dated Oct. 27, 2020, recounts testimony from a former limousine driver in Texas who said he transported Trump to Fort Worth airport in 1995 and overheard a disturbing phone call in which Trump repeatedly mentioned “Jeffrey” and referred to “abusing a girl.”

The driver told investigators that after describing the encounter to a woman he knew, she claimed that “Donald J. Trump raped her along with Jeffrey Epstein” at a luxury hotel, after being taken there by another young woman. According to the statement, the woman later said she could not go to the police because “they would kill her.”

The witness further alleged he later learned the woman had died in Oklahoma in 2000 under circumstances initially deemed a suicide, despite investigators saying it could not have been self-inflicted.

In a statement, the Justice Department said some newly released documents “contain false and sensational accusations against President Trump,” noting that the claims were submitted to the FBI shortly before the 2020 election.

FBI says Epstein letter referencing Trump is fake

Another document published Tuesday, a handwritten letter allegedly signed by Epstein and referring to “our president” groping young women, was declared fake by the FBI.

The bureau said the handwriting does not match Epstein’s, the postmark was dated three days after his death and originated in Virginia, and the return address did not correspond to the New York jail where Epstein was held.

“This fake letter is a reminder that the release of a document by the Department of Justice does not mean its claims are true,” prosecutors said.

The new files also include emails suggesting links between Epstein’s former partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, and a sender allegedly associated with Britain’s royal family.

One email sent from an account linked to Balmoral Castle asked Maxwell whether she had found “new inappropriate friends,” according to court records.

The account used the alias “the invisible man,” which the BBC has linked to a contact identified as the Duke of York, Prince Andrew.

The documents also include a 22-page Justice Department letter requesting a voluntary interview with a witness identified as “PA,” apparently referring to Prince Andrew.

Britain’s King Charles III stripped his brother of royal titles in October amid the fallout from his association with Epstein.

Trump, who appears repeatedly in the Epstein files, has said he cut ties with Epstein in 2004, before the financier was first charged with sex crimes. The Justice Department said further releases are expected in the coming days. EFE
