Madrid, Feb 4 (EFE).— Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez will travel to India on an official visit from Feb. 17 to 19 to attend an international summit focused on analyzing the global impact of artificial intelligence (AI).
The visit coincides with the celebration of the Spain–India Dual Year, marking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
In this context, Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares traveled to New Delhi on Jan. 20–21 to strengthen strategic ties with India in areas such as tourism, culture, and artificial intelligence, and to identify new fields of cooperation.
Albares’ visit marked the official launch of the Dual Year, an initiative agreed upon by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sánchez during the Spanish leader’s visit to India in October 2024, aimed at deepening bilateral relations.
The year has also begun with the conclusion of a trade agreement between the European Union and India, which the Spanish government has welcomed as a “great opportunity” for Spanish companies, particularly in the agri-food sector and other industries. EFE
