Elon Musk’s Robotaxi: The Future of Transportation

Washington, April 5 (EFE).- Tesla will unveil its Robotaxi vehicle on Aug. 8, the company’s CEO, Elon Musk, announced on his X account on Friday.

Musk did not provide further details about the vehicle he has been discussing for years. He has only referred to it as an autonomous car that acts as a taxi.

However, the controversial entrepreneur is famous for not meeting his projections and exaggerating the technological capabilities of his vehicles.

Musk’s company has not been able to produce an autonomous vehicle that requires no human intervention to operate, despite the CEO’s claims that the automaker would be able to function with these characteristics by 2018.

The entrepreneur’s announcement about the Robotaxi comes days after Tesla revealed that its sales in the third quarter of the year dropped by 8.5%.

Since the beginning of 2024, Tesla has also lost around $274 billion, a third of its value.

In recent months, the demand for electric vehicles has lowered in the US due to the manufacturers’ inability to reduce prices.

Tesla has started to lower the prices of its vehicles in the US by up to $7,000 to stimulate the demand and clear the inventory of over 46,000 unsold units.

According to some analysts, Tesla has limited their growth opportunities as a leading electric vehicle manufacturer by only focusing on a high-spending consumer market.

The launch of the Robotaxi could help improve Tesla’s outlook, which closed on the markets on Friday with a loss of 3.63%. EFE
