Sports Desk, June 16 (EFE).- Wout Weghorst came off the bench to score a late winner as the Netherlands came from behind to beat Poland 1-2 in their opening match of Euro 2024 in Hamburg, Germany, on Sunday.
The Dutch wasted several early chances to suddenly find themselves trailing after Adam Buksa headed home a Piotr Zielinski corner kick to put Poland ahead in the 16th minute.

Cody Gakpo beat Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny with a deflected shot to level the contest around the half-hour mark after an assist from Nathan Ake.
In the crucial match in Group D, which also included France and Austria, Weghorst turned the tide for the Netherlands with a left-footed goal seven minutes from time, taking advantage of another Ake assist shortly after he entered the field. EFE
