Maduro, Flores will face ‘full wrath’ of US justice: attorney general

Washington, Jan 3 (EFE).- US Attorney General Pam Bondi Saturday said Nicolas Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, will face the “full wrath of American justice” after he was arrested in Venezuela.

“They will soon face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts,” Bondi wrote on X.

She said the Venezuela president and the first land have been indicted in the Southern District of New York.

“Nicolas Maduro has been charged with Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States,” she wrote.

Maduro was indicted by the Southern District of New York in 2020, but it wasn’t clear what his exact whereabouts were on Saturday morning.

Bodi thanked President Donald Trump for “having the courage to demand accountability on behalf of the American people, and a huge thank you to our brave military who conducted the incredible and highly successful mission to capture these two alleged international narco traffickers.”

He remarks came as President Trump said on Saturday that the US carried out a “large-scale attack” on Venezuela and claimed that Maduro and his wife have been “captured and flown out of the country.”

Since his indictment in 2020, the US government, which does not recognize Maduro as the legitimate president of his country, has increased the reward for information leading to his arrest from 15 to a record $50 million. EFE
