‘I do not want to reconcile with my family’: Brooklyn Peltz Beckham speaks out

International Desk, Jan 20 (EFE).- David and Victoria Beckham’s eldest son, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, spoke out for the first time about their family rift on Tuesday, saying he does not want to reconcile.

In a statement on Instagram, the Beckhams’ 26-year-old eldest son said for his “entire life” his British parents have “controlled the narratives in the press about our family,” which includes his siblings Romeo, 23, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 14, and accused them of trying to “ruin” his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham.

Actress Nicola, 31, is the daughter of the American billionaire businessman and investor Nelson Peltz and former model Claudia Heffner Peltz. She married Brooklyn in 2022.

“I have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private,” Brooklyn began. “Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.”

“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he added.

He accused his family of “performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships” and said he has recently “seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.”

He went on to describe how in the lead-up to his wedding, his mother “canceled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour,” and that she called him “evil” for sitting the couple’s grandmothers at the bride and groom’s table, while his parents attempted to “bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife and my future children.”

“The night before our wedding, members of my family told me that Nicola was ‘not blood’ and ‘not family,’” Brooklyn recalled. “Since the moment I started standing up for myself with my family, I’ve received endless attacks from my parents, both privately and publicly, which were then sent to the press on their orders.”

He also said his mother “hijacked” his first dance with his wife at their wedding and “danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my life.”

“My wife has been consistently disrespected by my family, no matter how hard we’ve tried to come together as one,” he said, adding that she was not invited to David’s 50th birthday party.

“I grew up with overwhelming anxiety,” he explained. “For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose and have found peace and relief.”

“My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation,” he wrote. “All we want [is] peace, privacy, and happiness for us and our future family.”

The elder Beckham has been estranged from his family for almost three years and has been the subject of numerous public spats. EFE
