Dortmund, Germany, Jun 29 (EFE).- Jamal Musiala and Kai Havertz scored as Germany beat Denmark 2-0 in the Euro 2024 Round of 16 in Dortmund on Saturday.
The Germans were on the right side of two crucial VAR interventions in the second half as they eventually ran out deserved winners.
Joachim Andersen thought had given Denmark the lead just after the half time, but the goal was ruled out by the VAR for an offside in the buildup.
Minutes later, Denmark’s bad luck was compounded when the VAR spotted a handball by Andersen, with Kai Havertz expertly converting the resulting penalty.
As Denmark pushed for an equalizer, Schlotterbeck lofted a pass down the left channel for Musiala, who raced clear and finished fabulously.
Denmark had weathered an early storm to slowly grow into the match, and were arguably the better side when heavy rain, thunder and lightning temporarily suspended the match with about 10 minutes left in the first half.
While the Danes will feel unfortunate to be eliminated, Germany look like they have what it takes to go all the way in Euro 2024.They will face the winner of the match between Spain and Georgia. EFE
