International Desk, Jul 6 (EFE).- Mikel Merino scored in stoppage time, securing Spain’s passage to the World Cup quarter-finals with a 1-0 victory.
Spain’s victory sent Portugal home from the tournament and marked the conclusion of Cristiano Ronaldo’s World Cup career.

Merino was brought down, and a foul was called. The Portuguese team protested, but he played the ball back in, ran toward goal, and scored after receiving a pass from Ferran Torres.
La Roja will play either the United States or Belgium on Friday. EFE
